We have been extremely lucky to paddle this river several summers in a row! During the summer of 2017 we had two friends get permits for the Middle Fork of Salmon and they both invited us. The permits gave us 4 days in between the end of the first trip and the beginning of the second second. Of course we went on both trips!

These trips would not be possible for us without the great friends we have in the lower 48 who haul our boats to the put-in, lend us boats, prepare food and all manner of other help. Also, all of our friends who have applied for and gotten permits and then invited us to be part of their group, organizing shuttles, accommodations, etc.

This is my favorite weekend river. Beautiful scenery, great campsites, fun fishing, and some fun water. Quarter mile portage up hill, then down to get the pond, go across the pond and down a narrow, steep, slippery, trail to put back in and continue down river.
