Willow River

May 19th and 20th 2012

Beautiful runs down the Guardrail and Red Gate sections for me this weekend! Did it once Saturday evening and again on Sunday morning. Levels look to be 460 to 480 which makes it a little rocky and bumpy, I have a few new dings and scrapes on the bottom of my boat and maybe a new crack. :(

I'm really trying to rid myself of the bad habit of riding my pry stroke/brace through rapids. I did much better on Saturday, but I think my muscles were a little tired on Sunday and I went right back to relying on that it, darn it!

Eagle River

We have started using our solo boats after Pat patched the cracks in BOTH of our boats. The water level on Eagle River is still pretty low but there is enough water to float. We have run the Bridge-to-Bridge section (Briggs bridge to the highway bridge) twice now, once on Sunday, May 6, 2012 and again on Tuesday, May 14, 2012. Campground was clear both times.

First Paddle of 2012, Eagle River

The 2012 paddling season has begun at my house! We took the tandem down the bridge to bridge section of Eagle River on Sunday, April 29. There was plenty of water and only a couple of snow/ice shelves along the bank. One ice shelf was on the take out beach for the scout of Campground Rapid, but the water at the edge of it was only ankle deep so it wasn't a problem.

We ran Campground on the right and there were no issues on Sunday!
